Visible fuzz on the walls, floor, or ceiling joists is the obvious one. The less obvious signs are the musty smell that really hits you after the space has been sealed up for a while, white crusty buildup on concrete (that’s moisture pushing through from outside), condensation on pipes or windows, and any history of water getting in — even minor amounts.
